The environment is the space that shelters us and on which we depend to survive. It encompasses all natural elements — water, air, soil, flora, fauna, and ecosystems — which, in balance, guarantee life on the planet. However, in recent decades, human activity has caused profound and often irreversible changes to this delicate system.

Uncontrolled urban growth, deforestation, pollution of rivers and air, overexploitation of natural resources, and rising greenhouse gas emissions are some of the main threats to the environment. These practices compromise biodiversity, accelerate climate change, and endanger the quality of life for present and future generations.

Given this scenario, environmental preservation is no longer a concern only for scientists or environmentalists; it has become a collective responsibility. Every citizen, company, and government plays a fundamental role in this process. Small everyday actions — such as reducing plastic consumption, saving water and energy, recycling waste, and choosing less polluting means of transport — add up to the structural changes needed, such as effective public policies, investment in renewable energy, and strict enforcement against degrading activities.

Furthermore, environmental education is a powerful tool for transforming behavior. When people understand the interdependence between humans and nature, they become more aware and engaged in building a sustainable society.

Preserving the environment does not mean giving up development, but rather finding ways to grow in a balanced manner, respecting the planet's limits. It is an ethical commitment to life in all its forms and to the future of humanity. After all, as an indigenous proverb says, "We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children."
